Automobiles in German City Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then located numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.

City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior official stated the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
